Divine Appointment

I haven't shared a post in nearly a month, and part of that is because I want to spare you from the details of my current nomadic lifestyle...

Not necessarily because I don't think you'll find those details interesting... (There have truly been some interesting details!) but more importantly, because I don't want what I share to make you think that being a missionary is just a bunch of adventure.

True, I'm living what many people would consider an adventurous life, but adventure isn't why I'm doing what I'm doing...

I'm doing what I'm doing, because the King of the universe has given me a work to do, and He's made it unmistakably clear what that work is...

So although there's a certain amount of adventure to what I'm doing, that's not the reason I want to be here, and that's not the reason God has me here...

There are other, infinitely more important reasons...

Here's one of them...

---

It was a simple prayer really... "Lord, I ask that you give Jonathan a divine appointment today as he travels."

It's not too often that I get to share with people around me as I travel, mostly because not many people speak english.

So I was curious to see what divine appointment God had arranged for me.

About halfway into my travels, a mother and her two boys sat next to me... I didn't think much of it.

But then the boy sitting next to me started asking me questions in english!

And I realized that this boy actually knew quite a bit of english, and that's when I realized that this was my divine appointment...

So I began praying about how to share with this boy...

And in a break between questions, I rather bluntly asked him a very simple question.

"Do you know about God?"

A puzzled look came over his face, then he shook his head and said, "no."

"Do you want to know?" I asked.

"Yes!" He smiled really big and nodded his head.

And so I began to outline to him, in simple language, the story of creation. His 11 year old brain didn't have a terribly long attention span, and I wondered if he was actually understanding...

So I finished by telling him that the same God who created this world, loves us all...

And later as he was getting out of the vehicle, he said this to me.

"I'll never forget."

I pray that Bura will indeed, not forget, but also that he will have a way to learn more about the One who loves Him so much, that He sent His only Son, to die on a cross, so that we all can have eternal life...

---

Only after having an experience like that, can I fully realize how blessed I am, to have grown up with a knowledge of God...

There are so many millions of people that don't have that privilege, and trust me... it will do an amazing thing to your joy meter, when you get to tell them about God.

There's a bunch of people that don't know about God, and would probably want to, if someone like you were to ask them...

Do you know about God?
